MTI started at the request of the Board of Foreign Missions of GAPCK
(General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea – Hapdong).
In the fall of 1982, MTI became its official training center for future missionaries.
In January 1983, the first training took place at Pauline House outside Suwon for two weeks and a further two weeks at Chongshin Theological Seminary in Sadang Dong, Seoul.
In 1993, MTI became an independent missionary training center open to all. The Committee for Foreign Missions of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church supervised the work under the leadership of Dr Young J Son and Mrs Marylou Son. Mr Youngshin and Mrs Mihyang (Choi) Yoon were part of the leadership team.
In Spring 2009 the leadership passed to Pastor Youngshin and Mrs Mihyang (Choi) Yoon
